His unique skills combine training in brain and behavior relationships, psychotherapy, mind-body practices, integrative medicine, and acupuncture.
Dr. Duffy will perform a comprehensive evaluation that includes an assessment of the specific physical, neurological, psychiatric, psychodynamic, and lifestyle factors that may be impacting the client’s total wellbeing. His clinical approach is organized around the two pillars of identifying and addressing each person’s unique vulnerabilities, whilst also supporting their unique and remarkable inherent capacity for flourishing.
As an integrative neuropsychiatrist, Dr. Duffy has the truly unique training to combine recent advances in behavioral neuroscience with the wisdom of ancient healing traditions. As appropriate, he may recommend further neurological assessments, medications, herbs and supplements, mind-body practices, lifestyle modifications, psychotherapy, or acupuncture. He also provides guidance in approaches to enhancing performance excellence utilizing innovative contemplative and psychological approaches.
What is an Integrative Neuropsychiatrist?
“An integrative neuropsychiatrist has extensive training in how to understand and optimize the neurological (brain and behavior connection), psychological, transpersonal, and environmental factors that influence each person’s unique capacity for flourishing. The integrative neuropsychiatrist works with each patient to address both their challenges, and also optimize their unique capacity to flourish.
A traditional allopathic psychiatrist focuses on the prescription of medications and/or treatments such as ECT or transcranial magnetic stimulation to reduce symptoms. An integrative neuropsychiatrist can also prescribe these treatment options when appropriate but will also consider other evidence-based options such as Mind-Body practices, acupuncture, movement practices, supplements, and lifestyle factors.
This means that the integrative neuropsychiatrist works with an integrative team to offer every patient a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan that will optimize their capacity to flourish”.
Dr. Duffy is scheduling new patients and offering several cutting-edge, exciting wellness programs at our Ivoryton location starting in July 2021.
